Summary of Surah Al-Waqiah:
This Surah tells about three types of people.
- The highest in rank and position.
- The ordinary people who followed the right path.
- Non believers.
About these types of people are rewards and punishments described in detail. Arguments on the truths of the two basic doctrines of Islam have been done. These arguments draw the attention of man to himself, which makes him realize whatever he eats, drinks and cook is only possible because Allah wills.
If Allah has the power to create something once, then why cannot he do it again if He wills.
In this Surah, those people are mentioned who had a doubt about the Holy Quran. They were made to realize that everything is created by Allah. There are two sentences that are mentioned in the Holy Quran which proves the fact the Allah is the only creator and there is no partner associated with him.
Theme of Surah Al-Waqiah:
The theme of this Surah is related to the Hereafter, the concept of Tauheed and the suspicion of the disbelievers about the Holy Quran.
They had a doubt of being resurrected again after their death. They also regarded the Day Of Judgment as an imaginary aspect of the Muslims in which the one who follows the right path shall be rewarded with Paradise and the one who does not, shall be thrown into the fire of Hell. They thought this can never happen.
Lessons, Guides and Major Issues:
On the Day Of Judgment, there will be the following situation:
- The scenario will be Doomsday.
- Earth will shake.
- The mountains will be crushed and will turn into dust.
- The mankind will be divided into three classes.
Before the day this will happen, Allah will give death to all the believers and will let the non believers live to face the hardship and pain in this life. Then the dead will be resurrected and their decision will be made about whether they deserve Heaven or not.
Those who never believed in Allah shall never be forgiven and will be directly sent to the Hell.

“And you become [of] three kinds: Then the companions of the right – what are the companions of the right? And the companions of the left – what are the companions of the left? And the forerunners, the forerunners – Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]. In the Gardens of Pleasure, A [large] company of the former peoples. And a few of the later peoples,” (56:7-14).
” And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah, Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure. And if he was of the companions of the right, Then [the angels will say], “Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right.” But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray, Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water. And burning in Hellfire.” (56:88-94).

Hadith about Surah Al-Waqiah:
This was one of the Surah that aged the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). This happened because of the intensity and pressure of this Surah. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) is reported to have said that:
“I have become old [due to] [Surah] Hud, al-Waqiah , al-Murasalat , Amma yatasailoon [an-Naba 78] and Waidha ash-Shamsu kuwirat [at-Takweer 81].”(Tirmizi)
Jabir Ibn-e-Samra is reported to have said:
“The Prophet [saw] prayed like [how ] you prayed today but he prayed lighter. He would recite in Fajr, Surah al-Waqiah or similar [sized] Surahs.”
Surah Al-Waqiah is a Surah that should be recited if one wants to get wealthy. It is also a warning to the non believers that they will not get a chance once again after this life. Then they will be helpless and there will be no mercy shown on them.
Moreover, it contains a lesson for mankind that death is enough for them to keep them on the right path as there is always an end to everything that is created by Allah expect from the Life After Death which is ever living.
