Ramadan Iftar Dua (Roza Kholne Ki Dua) with Arabic, Transliteration & Hadith Reference

Ramadan is the month of blessings, and the best oppurtunity to ask Allah for anything — forgiveness, mercy, guidance, and relief from difficulties. Our beloved Prophet ﷺ said that the dua of a fasting person at the time of Iftar is not rejected.

“There are three whose supplication is not rejected:
The fasting person when he breaks his fast,
the just ruler,
and the supplication of the oppressed.
Allah raises it above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven for it…”

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3598 )

This shows how powerful the moment of breaking fast is. Make sincere dua at Iftar; it is a special time of acceptance.

Alongside your personal duas, there are some Arabic narrations that you can recite at the time of Iftar to thank Allah, declare His greatness, and praise Him.

Dua for Iftar – روزہ کھولنے کی دعا

Below are the duas commonly recited at the time of breaking fast or Iftar.

dua for breaking fast

1- Most Popular Iftar Dua

This Dua is commonly recited by Muslim Ummah, during Iftar time.

Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ [وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ] وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

Transliteration:

Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu

Translation:

“O Allah, I fasted for You, I believe in You, I place my trust in You, and with Your sustenance I break my fast.”

2- Dua to Recite After and Before Breaking Fast

This dua was recited by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAWﷺ) when he broke his fast.

Arabic:

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Transliteration:

Dhahaba adh-dhama’u wabtallatil-‘urooqu wa thabatal-ajru in shaa Allah

Translation:

“The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.”(Sunan Abi Dawud 2357 )

Don’t Forget: You may also make personal dua before taking the first sip — this is a powerful moment of acceptance.

Ashrah Specific Duas to Recite During Iftar

In addition to dua for breaking fast, recite or do dhikr of the following beautiful general supplications at the time of Iftar.

First Ashrah (1-10) – Mercy

“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”(Tirmidhi 3513 – Sahih)

Two Special Joys of a Fasting Person

The Prophet ﷺ said a fasting person has two joys:

  1. When breaking the fast
  2. When meeting Allah on the Day of Judgment

This reminds us that fasting is not only physical; it is spiritual success.

Make Dua at Every Iftar

After reciting the Ramadan Iftar Dua, ask Allah for:

  • Forgiveness
  • Mercy
  • Guidance
  • Relief from difficulties
  • Halal sustenance
  • Jannah
